Task Based Learning (TBL)

This is my summary and reflection on Task Based Learning (TBL). We gave a team presentation in front of the class where I talked about its origins and evolution. Canva Presentation

TBL is an approach where students learn a language by completing meaningful, real-world tasks. It was developed by authors like Chomsky, Hymes, Prabhu, and Jane Willis, and finally systematized by David Nunan.

I learned that language learning can start with action, not grammar, which made me feel interested and motivated because TBL makes learning more natural and fun. The hard part was understanding the difference between an authentic task and a simple classroom activity.

How this helps me as a future teacher

TBL teaches me to put students at the center of learning. That way I will be a guide who designs real experiences to encourage autonomy, see mistakes as natural, and keep my classes dynamic and meaningful. TBL taught me that language is a tool to live, create and share. As a future teacher, I want my students to learn English by doing things that matter to them.

  1. You have a gift in the drawing field, your draws look like pictures. I also think that TBL is one of the most interesting methodologies to use in the classroom.

  3. I really liked your reflection because it shows a clear understanding of the importance of Task-Based Learning in the classroom. I agree that TBL helps teachers place students at the center of the learning process and encourages more meaningful communication. I also liked the idea of seeing mistakes as a natural part of learning because this can help students feel more confident and motivated to participate. In addition, your perspective about language being a tool to live, create, and share ideas makes the purpose of learning English feel more authentic and meaningful. Overall, I think your reflection demonstrates a positive and student-centered vision of teaching.
